Firmware surprises love urgency. A dialog appears, the wording feels official, and the sync you planned becomes an update you did not schedule. The Cold Wallet Sync Checklist treats channel confirmation as a gate, not a footnote.

Write down the channel name and version you last trusted — on paper, in a notebook that never leaves the desk drawer with your device. When the device reports a different channel, stop. Do not photograph the screen with a phone that also holds your email; compare with your paper note instead.

If release notes mention a migration, schedule a separate session whose only goal is evaluation. Mixing “quick balance check” with “major firmware move” is how checklists get abandoned mid-stream.
