Air-gap ideals collapse when a roommate needs the desk, a delivery rings, or Slack lights up. Habits beat slogans. We ask learners to pick two environmental cues that mean “sync mode is on.”
Examples that work in small Korean apartments: a specific desk lamp angle, headphones on even with no audio, or a folded cloth covering the secondary monitor. The cue is silly on purpose — silliness is memorable when you are tired.
During sync mode, browsers stay on a short allowlist, and phones go face-down outside arm’s reach. If you must answer a call, end the checklist at the last completed step and restart from the top later. Partial progress without a written bookmark is how steps vanish.
